We are Second Avenue United Methodist Church where hearts of every age are lifted to God through blended worship, outreach into the community, discipleship, ministry, and fellowship...that people of every age may have passionate hearts for God and compassionate hearts for others.
We realize that in any congregation at any time there are people in different stages of growth.
Those Exploring Christ – people who believe in God but are not sure about Christ. Faith is not a significant part of life.
Those Growing in Christ – People who believe in Christ and are working on what it means to get to know Him.
Those Close to Christ – People who feel really close to Christ and depend on Him daily for guidance.
Those who are Christ-Centered – People for whom their relationship with Christ is the most important relationship in life. It guides everything they do.
The goal of spiritual growth is to help people advance through those stages to be Christ-centered.
Our Purpose here at Second Avenue is to lead people to Jesus and membership in his family, teach them to worship the Lord and magnify his name, develop them to Christlike maturity, and equip them for ministry in the church, and a mission in the world.
The Great Commandment
"'Love the Lord your God with all your heart...soul and...mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."- Matthew 22:37-40
The Great Commission
"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." - Matthew 28:19-20
